Sparing a thought today for residents of South Texas, who have been bombarded by baseball-sized hailstones as a freak storm whipped across the Portland, Taft and Corpus Christi areas.
Our man Joe Salas lives in the area, and often sends me the wild weather alerts he gets as one biblical cataclysm or another descends on his neighborhood. Joe and his family were lucky again this time, the worst of the storm missing his place by a few miles, but as the old Chinese curse goes, we sure do seem to be living in interesting times…
